User Reviews & Recommendations

changed man (Alexander, Bulgaria)

User Rating:

Never been a big fan of cells, as it's sort of a status mark around here, but my old Siemens M65 was pretty much dead, so I needed a replacement. Siemens/Benq have gone down the drain so I turned my eye to good ole' Nokia. 6300 had to be it. It's one of these phone you keep holding in your palms for hours, because it feels just so... right. The menu / feature are really intuitive . I never cared about cell cameras , and 3G isn't all that popular as of yet, so I don't care about these. My sole disappointment is the battery life -- heavy usage -- 24 hours, moderate usage 36 hours, light usage about 48 hours. Talk time really drains the battery down, and that's what people use a phone for, right? It doesn't have IR, but come one IR is dead given BlueTooth. I really recommend this phone to people who would give it moderate usage, don't need the latest BS technology (such as camera flash etc.) but enjoy style and grace. It's a gem.

seen better (Andy, Hove, UK)

User Rating:

Just took week old 6300 back to Carphone Warehouse as overheating after only 5 minute calls, have read all these reviews & see this is a common problem. As a radiation expert I don't need my brain frying any more thank you very much!

Now on second 6300 & hoping it is better. Watch this space. As I don't go in for gadgets (other than stuff that goes bang) & travel a lot, plus rely entirely on the mobile for business calls, I want the simplest model there is. Last Nokia was ancient but simple, totally reliable, nothing wonderful design wise but no frills & no problems. Other problems with the first 6300 phone I bought was poor reception & sound quality of calls, plus it resets the settings like the voicemail settings & alert, the ring doesn't go on long enough before it cuts into voicemail, calling Vodafone doesn't work & you have to go to the Vodafone shop to get them to alter the settings. The ringtones supplied are also awful so you have to spend ages downloading one. But the overheating is by far the biggest problem. Strange that the reviews here are either raving or ranting over this model. The different batches must vary enormously in quality, which is not good.

avoid it (Mr Wood, Brentford)

User Rating:

First up there's no USB data cable. Then there's the fact Nokia's supplied software isn't compatible with 'Mac' computers. Which, considering the size of the company is absolutely disgraceful!

Very good (Nathan, Bangkok)

User Rating:

This phone took me only 3 minutes to figure out all the things on it, & the special keys are & everything else. This phone is cool & very smooth & tough. I've dropped it heaps & still working well, with no scratches since the day I got it 3-4 weeks ago. Probably because of the stainless steel plating on the key board & battery cover. It has a very well constructed screen. VERY SHINY DESIGN, & STANDS OUT FROM the OTHER PHONES AROUND!
